In Waiting, he draws a graceful pregnant angel with an expression of peace on her face. She sits by a swan and black panther, perhaps counting down the seconds until the birth of her cherub. Parkes imagines angels who experience the joys of motherhood in their part of the universe. Like humans, they raise celestial children and have dreams and hopes of their own.
