A note from the artist:
These rows of rocks were created by farmers pulling them out of the ground and to the edge of their fields. Thus boundaries between properties were formed, more reliable than imaginary survey lines. Some of these “divides” are old enough that whole trees grow right through them.
Alexander Volkov has a personal affinity for the beauty of the four seasons. His art reflects the best of each season through his lens. Living in New England has bolstered his appreciation for the changes in nature throughout the year. You will notice when perusing his collection of the seasons, he demonstrates his fascination with the way the light moves through a room or through leaves on a tree. In person the dynamic elements of the light transition within the painting at different times of the day and throughout the year.
