The patrons of the Marcus Ashley Gallery have been in the art business for over 18 years. This brick-and-mortar establishment is known for its exceptional service and knowledge. Art collectors will be delighted to know that Alexander Volkov art is on display at the gallery.
Volkov is a self-taught artist who draws inspiration from the likes of Edward Hopper, Steinbeck, and Andrew Wyeth. The artist believes that to strengthen one’s craft, one must be open to constant learning. As a student of physics for 8 years at the Leningrad State University, Volkov acquired a deep understanding of light and darkness.
Light In August showcases Volkov’s deliberate, unwavering brushwork and his skill in manipulating light, shadows, and silhouettes. A set of vintage-style lamps basks in the warmth of the golden hour. Sunlight refracts through the glass to give the piece life-like depth, texture, and form.
The artist portrays a simple scene against a muted palette to underscore surface variations of glass, metal, and wood. It’s a lovely painting to mount in an upscale, intimate, or urban space with plenty of natural light.
Light In August is available for sale at the Marcus Ashley Gallery.
