A note from the artist:
There is a unique warmth and comfort in the moonlight. The inspiration for the clouds in this painting came from El Greco’s “View of Toledo”, Which is far from peaceful. But strangely, the silent battle of light and dark in the sky had a very calming effect as if the past and the future were fully present in that moment.
Alexander Volkov has a personal affinity for the beauty of the four seasons. His art reflects the best of each season through his lens. Living in New England has bolstered his appreciation for the changes in nature throughout the year. You will notice when perusing his collection of the seasons, he demonstrates his fascination with the way the light moves through a room or through leaves on a tree. In person the dynamic elements of the light transition within the painting at different times of the day and throughout the year.
