Spring Days belongs to the Tuscany series of the South Korean painter. It captures the charm of the Italian region’s trees and flowers in their colorful brilliance. In Jung’s creative imagination, the Tuscany spring transforms a centuries-old oak into a boastful trunk lifting its branches with periwinkle leaves to the gradient heavens. A carpet of fallen petals is a stark contrast to the manicured throne of grass. Below, a meadow of yellow, blue, and white flowers sit grandly on their lush green stems. This lifelike scenery is made possible by the artist’s passionate brushwork and his painstaking application of layer upon layer of oil paint.
