A note from the artist-
This is what I do not like about photographing Zoo animals. Their habitat is so different from the wild that it affects them in many ways. They normally turn neurotic, wandering a small pathway over and over. This Rhino has worn down his once pointed set of horns, no one to fight with or challenge. He is very old and safe from predators, but is it really better? Maybe I’ll do a new profile series once we’ve seen them and photographed them in the wild. I know my whole outlook will change. August 2009 is the target date!
