“I had the opportunity to visit Greece one summer with my son, Michael, where we circled much of the island in a little Renault, stopping at little fishing villages along the coast.”– Charles Pabst
Lake Tahoe is a frequent haunt of travelers from the US and other parts of the world. Besides its undeniable beauty, Lake Tahoe is home to the prestigious Marcus Ashley Gallery. The patrons are proud to include Charles Pabst art as part of its growing selection of fine exhibits. The Arizona-based artist’s love for art started at a very young age before blossoming into a full-fledged career, and today, he is a celebrated artist in the US, England, and Hong Kong.
Pabst recalls a trip he took to Greece with his son one summer, halting at little fishing villages along the way. One such halt was the little seaside town of Gytheio. The little Greecian port springs to life in Gytheio Color through classic shades of blue, green, and ivory. Visible brushstrokes reveal a lovely tapestry of squiggly and clean lines and contours that impart a textural finish. Much like the masters of the past, such as Vermeer and Rembrandt, Pabst employs the impasto technique of layering the canvas with thick paint.
Gytheio Color will make an interesting conversation starter in the company of art enthusiasts, family, and friends.
