I Listened

“You don't want to change the living room, and then change your artwork. The artwork should always stay there because it means something to you.” – Fabio Napoleoni

It’s not often that one comes across a massive yet inviting space like the Marcus Ashley Gallery. Within its brick-and-mortar walls and thoughtfully decorated interiors is Fabio Napoleoni art. The patrons and staff of the gallery share a mutual appreciation and respect for the artists they work with. Here is where you will find the work of Dr. Seuss, Michelangelo, Barak Rozenvain, and Mario Jung, among others.

The artist is a virtuoso of expressionism art, which is evident in the giclee titled, I Listened. This artwork is a perfect representation of what we need and want as humans—love.

In this giclee, Napoleoni’s beloved character Marcenivo extends his heart into the unknown, waiting for his desire to come true. One of several winged hearts is drawn to the rhythm of the rag doll’s beating heart. As the two hearts tune into each other’s love frequency, the winged heart chooses to fulfill the little beating heart’s earnest plea.

I Listened symbolizes how some people wait for someone’s little heart to pick them as parents. The artist shows us that love will arrive in unexpected ways, led to us perhaps by our deep intention.
