A Moment of Reflection

“It’s fun to remember the early days when I first started. A lot has changed since I had my own gallery in Napa when everyone was invited to watch me while I worked. It amazes me how many people I met and still continue to stay in touch.” - Eric Christensen

Marcus Ashley Fine Art Gallery frequently hosts live events with the artists whose body of work are displayed in its showroom and on its online exhibition. Eric Christensen art is one of the largest in their collection, and the artist regularly meets his fans at the gallery over wine and cheese. During these occasions, he demonstrates his hyperrealism style using standard transparent watercolor.

A Moment of Reflection

is a double entendre on Christensen’s signature trope - reflections. It exemplifies the artist’s genius in capturing the mirror image of objects and scenery cast on glass and silverware. An open window and the glorious landscape beyond it are detailed on the two wine glasses and a Silver Oak wine bottle. As well, the table linen is displayed on the sterling pitcher along with the fruit bowl beside it and the rest of the room. At the same time, this piece invites the viewer to contemplate on days gone by through items that chronicle their memoirs. For Christensen, these are a book collection, a porcelain vase, and his framed “Cabernet Day” painting.
