“This stone lithograph, done in 1991, was simply a homage to classical music and ballet. On a side note, it was one of the most difficult images I ever produced on stone. I was printing on wet paper and because of the very large size (71cm x 101cm) of the litho, the registration of the details in the corners was almost impossible. I threw away a lot of lithos with poor registration in those 7 days of printing.” – Michael Parkes

Lake Tahoe is an oasis of tranquility and natural beauty in the lovely state of California. Artists from around the country and world come by this slice of paradise to draw inspiration from its grand beauty. It’s no wonder why the Marcus Ashley Gallery chose this place to display some of the world’s finest exhibits, including Michael Parkes art.

The artist shares how the corners of Concert Vivaldi required several revisions until the details emerged error-free. His earnest, patient approach to creating art serves as an inspiration to aspiring artists.

This litho print portrays a lively celestial orchestral and ballet performance in honor of classical music. The artist injects Concert Vivaldi with a symphony of muted hues and clean lines that do justice to this homage to history’s greatest composers.
