The Marcus Ashley Gallery is reputed for its luxury services, which include hosting private shows. Enjoy viewing art from the comfort and privacy of any space within a 60-mile radius of the gallery. The staff will be happy to display Michael Parkes art for your viewing pleasure. The artist is a master of magic realism paintings, lithographs, and sculptures, and you can explore his work in all their glory at the gallery in person or online.
In The Librarian, the artist animates the velvety surface of German etching paper with his famous dwarfed celestial subject. Using a high-end reproduction process, Parkes recreates his originals, such as this one, into a limited-edition giclée.
The bizarre yet delightful depiction of the dwarf in medieval garb is a classic reimagination of the artist’s recurring subject. Here, he is seen examining the contents of a book with a magnifying glass. A smattering of fish fills the composition, adding an air of mystery and amusement.
Parkes uses soft, ethereal hues delicately layered with purposeful brushstrokes. The result is a dreamy gossamer of pastels such as ivory, greyish blues, and beige. The Librarian will add a quirky spin to a grand or quaint room on its own or when paired with other art by the artist.
