California is a bustling hub of historical, cultural, and contemporary art. Collectors, prominent figures, and private curators often come by the sunny state to acquire art for residential and commercial properties. You’ll find that the Marcus Ashley Gallery in Lake Tahoe is an ideal destination to view and buy art. The Californian showroom proudly displays Lyman Whitaker art on location. Explore the sculptor’s wind sculptures to witness mechanical finesse and masterful craftsmanship at work.

A prime meridian is an initial point at 0 longitudes used to measure the east and west distances across the earth. It divides the earth into the eastern and western hemispheres, similar to how the equator divides the northern and southern hemispheres. In Whitaker’s Meridian, twisted metal arches sit over and under a spinning center. Notice how the bottom of the sculpture is an inverted design of the top. As the metallic elements briefly create semi-circles mid-spin, a cohesive picture materializes.

Whitaker relies on his deep knowledge of physics and metalworks to create Meridian. A national palette of stainless steel adds a futuristic twist to the wind sculpture. Watching Meridian spin in your garden or backyard will leave you pleasantly transfixed. All pieces by the artist come with the necessary hardware for easy installation.
