A note from the Artist:
I’m thrilled to begin this “series within a series”, as it’s an exciting new way for collectors to create their own “bookshelves” of my work. Phil Smith, my friend and fellow artist, made the suggestion at a recent show I did with him at his gallery in Florida. There was no better subject for me to inaugurate this series of 24” x 7” originals with than Johnny Cash. As important as music has been within my Bibliotheque Series, it’s incredible to me that this is the first time I’ve touched on the Country Music genre. Susan, my wife, loves Country and has given me an appreciation for it over our 18 years together. We’ve seen Carrie Underwood and Allen Jackson, along with many others live in concert. But Johnny Cash is legendary. There are songs of his I go back to again and again, including “The Wanderer”, “Were You There” and “Ring of Fire”. I also love the music of The Highwaymen, a supergroup to which Cash was integral. Then there’s the iconic love story of Johnny and June. I hope you feel the same as I do, that I caught something of his spirit in the look he’s giving us in “The Man in Black”.
