Tourists vacationing in Lake Tahoe and wishing to take home a memory of their time here can browse through the fine exhibits at the Marcus Ashley Gallery. From original art to books and memorabilia, there are a plethora of carefully curated items worth exploring at the gallery. Visitors will particularly enjoy viewing the Frogman art collection by Tim Cotterill. The sculptor rose to fame after his initial experimental metalwork sculptures sold quickly. Today, Frogman joins the ranks of well-known artisans and is a force to be reckoned with for his perfectly sculpted beauties.
Frogs often choose to sit and observe quietly from a reserved spot on a lily pad or in the shade of a flower. But after spotting something of interest, a frog leaps into action quite unexpectedly. In Whimsy, the limber citrus-toned frog is caught jumping into his favorite pond. Captured in the middle of his dive, his lean frame stretches dramatically, and as if frozen in time, Whimsy remains suspended in midair. The amphibian’s fluidity of movement and change in form gives the sculpture an intriguing dimension and definition.
Whimsy is a lovely piece to place on a desk or side table and will easily stir up intriguing conversations with friends and family.
