The beauty of visiting the Marcus Ashley Gallery is that there is something for everyone to enjoy. Visitors will be enamored by the incredible variety of art on display, from the gallery’s outdoor installations to its in-house collections by revered artists like Michelangelo, Dr. Seuss, and Mario Jung. The showroom invites visitors to step into the world of Frogman art by Tim Cotterill, the renowned metalworks sculptor.
In Gem, a frog twists its little body to one side as if looking for a companion. Its dark green and yellow patina is diffused with black markings, giving the frog a striking appearance. As its eyes canvas the edge of the isolated pond, one can only hope the lonesome frog will find a friend or partner to give him company.
Frogman captures the different moods of amphibians and their awkward, restful, or energetic poses. In Gem, he attempts to capture the personality of his tiny subject through meticulous workmanship. Doing so brings a raw purity and emotive value to Frogman’s work that he aims to deliver through every piece.
Gem will blend beautifully with other creations by the sculptor and command the aesthetic of any room.
