“This pond that a farmer once dug out by hand is all that remains of the farm that used to be there, a trace of human life left on the surface of the Earth.” – Alexander Volkov
Tucked at the heart of Lake Tahoe lies the Marcus Ashley Gallery, a spacious haven of art that many have come to love. The gallery’s patrons turned their love of art into a visual spectacle within a 4400 sq. foot space. Here, you’ll discover the works of famous local and international artists, including Alexander Volkov art.
The artist is highly regarded for his keen eye for detail, precise brushwork, and emotive paintings. Sunrises and sunsets are captured in all their brilliance across several of Volkov’s works. In Night Pond, the artist paints his signature sunset backdrop over a once-thriving farm.
Except for the man-made pond that lies at the center of this land, everything appears still and vacant. Coniferous trees and low-lying shrubs dot the horizon. As if protecting what little is left, nature remains on guard under the expanse of a cloud-speckled sky.
Volkov’s ability to turn mundane moments into meaningful stories comes through smoothly. Night Pond is a lovely reminder that even with time, our rich pasts leave an indelible impression.
This pretty giclée on canvas is available at the Marcus Ashley Gallery for art enthusiasts to buy from anywhere in the world.
