A note from the artist:
Monhegan Island, Maine, is known for its rugged coastline and untamed beauty. Andrew and James Wyeth were among many artists drawn here over the course of the last century. Perhaps attracted by it’s isolation and sense of peace, this is where artists feel free. What intrigues me, is what this scene would look like in the middle of a Maine winter
Transport yourself to your happy place alongside the ocean. The deep hues of the water against the vibrant scenery is sure to transpose you to a place of peace and familiarity. Volkov is a master of manipulating paint in a way that truly emulates the wildness and serenity of the sea. He has been inspired by seascapes throughout his travels around the world, but tends to draw focus and homage to his home in the north east. The comfort of the color palate, is sure you warm up your walls and bring light to your space.
