“I love discovering new places, and finding Emerald Bay was a unique experience. Awakened by a misfiring smoke alarm at my hotel room one night, I decided to take a drive around Lake Tahoe. But route 89 was closed due to a snowstorm, and I walked in knee-deep snow to the highest point on the road.

The dawn was just breaking and I was all alone with the breathtaking view of the lake opening up in front of me down below. As I stood above Emerald Bay witnessing the eternal ritual of the birth of a new day, the passage of time acquired a different pace, dictated by the unfolding of light in the sky, the whole history of the world compressed into these few minutes. The greatest gifts an artist can share are moments like these. – Alexander Volkov

Volkov took up residence in Frenchtown, New Jersey, after moving from St. Petersburg, Russia. Over the years, the artist has fondly captured the life and charm of rural America in his paintings. Collectors interested in Alexander Volkov art can find what they need in-person or online with the help of the gallery’s staff.

An unexpected incident in Volkov’s room led him to drive around Lake Tahoe in the wee hours of the morning. While traversing the snow-ridden terrain, he stumbled upon the majesty of Emerald Bay.

In Emerald Bay Sunrise, the day slowly unfolds as the sun rises over the horizon. Fluffy tufts of clouds streak across the sky as sunlight refracts in a palette of flamingo pinks and cool blues. Injecting emotional depth and storytelling in every painting is the artist’s strongest suit.

This piece and other works by the artist can be found at the Marcus Ashley Gallery, where collectors can rely on the staff for advice, help, or additional services.
