“There is something about spring, in the blackness of shadows at nightfall, in the light that lingers above the horizon just a bit longer than the day before, in the turn of the road. There is something about spring…” – Alexander Volkov

Among the countless tourist destinations at Lake Tahoe, The Marcus Ashley Gallery is one place worth visiting. Their services include not only custom framing and worldwide shipping but also excellent customer service. It is a frequent haunt of Alexander Volkov art collectors thanks to the enviable repertoire of the artist’s oil paintings. Among these is his Seasons series, dramatic representations of spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Each piece is a breathtaking landscape that imbues calm into any space and enlivens bare walls.

Something About Spring is one such piece. It is the artist’s tribute to the renewal of life following winter’s hibernation. The master of Light and Realism records that moment when day turns into night later than it did the previous day, signaling the transition of seasons. Pale pink, peach, and light blue take over the azure sky of yesterday. Edifices are more visible, and so is the still-wet road. But the coup de grace in this setting is Volkov’s admirable detailed rendition of the bare tree branches reaching out and up into the heavens, deep brown against the subdued illumination. This trademark contrast unmistakably bears the Volkov stamp.

Something About Spring is a Collectors Edition and is produced in only 25 prints worldwide.
